Glasgow MuseumsGlasgow Museums offer something for everyone; whether you want to find out more about an artist, see how we used to live, or simply meet a friend for coffee, Glasgow has a museum to suit your needs, all free entry and situated handily throughout the city centre, with eating and drinking facilities and plenty for the children to do.For Charles Rennie Mackintosh fans, the House for an Art Lover in the South-Side of the city and Scotland Street School , are both great venues to experience his work first hand. House for an Art Lover was inspired by previous drawings by Mackintosh, displaying various rooms designed by the man himself. Scotland Street School was his last major project, where you can experience old school days in Glasgow. Children and families will enjoy our popular Museum of Transport it houses every time of transportation you can imagine, from Fire Engines, to Ships built on the River Clyde to the oldest bicycle in the world! For something more tranquil why not visit The Provand's Lordship, said to be the oldest house in Glasgow being the last remaining of the medieval times. Opposite this is the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art telling the story of religion throughout the years in Glasgow. The Hunterian Museum was Scotland's first public museum opening in 1807. The museum has various displays from dinosaurs to minerals and rocks and even some artifacts founded by Captain Cook! Transport Museum |
