Glasgow's West End is host to among the best nightlife in the city. The stylish area features a range of chic restaurant's bars and clubs, most of which within close proximity and compact nightlife hotspots.

The West End's Ashton lane (along with Byres Road) is perhaps the district's most well known and popular area. The cobble stone alleyway is located just off the busy Byres road and seconds from the Hillhead underground (subway) station. It features a variety elegant restaurants, bars and a cinema. Notable favourites include Brel and Vodka Wodka.

Glasgow's West End cannot be discussed without giving mention to Byres road and vice-versa. The renowned Byres road is home to a number of nightlife hot spots from sophisticated cocktail bars and restaurants to student venues. At the tail end of Byres road is the unique 'Oranmore', a stunning Church converted into a pub/restaurant and nightclub.

With the West End being home to one of the UK's most prestigious universities, it's two competing unions host a number of nights throughout the week, incorporating all genres of music and tastes and fantastic drinks promotions in their many bars. The QMU is particularly renowned for consistently attracting the best in both home grown and international musical talent, Franz Ferdinand and Snow Patrol being among the most popular.

Other notable venues in the West End include Bar Oz, a Australian themed pub/restaurant, No. 16 Byres road - an extremely popular restaurant with tourists and the Piano & Restaurant.
